Title: Not Just TWC Anymore
Post by: Dr Obbins on December 12, 2014, 08:15:18 PM
FOX has a somewhat interesting report on the increased severe weather coverage even though the weather is basically the same as it always has been. Calling it "Weather Porn (http://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/2014/12/12/weather-porn-network-newscasts-spending-more-time-on-dramatic-weather/?intcmp=obmod_ffo&intcmp=obnetwork)"
Quote
"Weather coverage can drive ratings," Burkey said, but "you have to be careful that you're not covering weather stories that aren't real news every night. It's an easy way to lose the trust of the audience about what is really an important weather story."

Maybe there is hope yet!  :-)
There's a new boss in charge at the Discovery Network, and he's anxious to get rid of mega-sharks, mermaids and man-eating snakes. (http://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/2015/01/09/discovery-new-boss-says-so-no-more-mermaids-giant-snakes/?intcmp=features)

No mention of getting rid of the reality shows. :-(

TWC hasn't been too bad in my opinion this spring. Anybody that knows me on the forum knows that I have really cracked the whip on them over the last few years. This spring's severe weather coverage has probably been the best in a long time. Carl Parker and Greg Forbes on there together hasn't been too bad.

LOL There hasn't been that much severe weather to cover! Wait until it really ramps up, then TWC will be back to being the usual / old TWC, sorry to say.

I can't think of a single reason to watch it.  Ever.

Forbes is a sell out for staying there.  Hopefully he'll see the light and move to one of the new ones coming.

I'm not giving the green light to TWC just yet, I was just mentioning that it does seem like it's gotten a little better. I usually referred to it as TRC for The Roker Channel, but things are looking at least a little up in my opinion there. I think Don's probably got it nailed down, it'll be interesting to see what happens from here.
