Weather on your Desktop?
« on: January 23, 2011, 08:37:05 PM »
I currently have TWC Desktop and its pretty cool, but I was wondering if wunderground had a desktop weather application. I checked the site, but I havent seen anything. Can anyone tell me for sure whether they have one? Any other cool desktop weather other than weatherbug and accuweather?

Thanks!

No WU does not have one. Would be nice though. I've used TWC's, Weatherbug and Accu weather's. It kind of depends what things in it are you looking for. Example, Accuweather's desktop app is pretty basic as far as current readings go. you have to click on other tabs within it to see radar, other data by which they send you to a web site which is not that convenient as i could just go to their site directly and find all that info instead of relying on the app. TWC's has alot of cool things with in it besides local weather data like golf index, hobby indexes etc all in one app but it takes up a quarter of your screen space up. Weather bug is nice, has other types of info in it too besides weather data which this one is a smaller version of TWC's app. It really all depends what things you like and could find useful. I wouldn't go for the buying subscription of all these as it's a sales pitch and easy money maker for them plus why buy something like when the web is free? Just download each one and find one you like best and uninstall the ones you don't like just don't have more then 2 apps on your pc as it can really slow it down and clutter every thing up. Enjoy!
Thanks.

Search wxforum.  Somewhere here I found a tip that I am now using with XP to display a wxgraphic "sticker" from my webpage (similar to my signature banner) on my desktop full-time.  It involves active desktop, and inserting only the like to the graphic (php file actually) from your wxgraphic or wusticker.  You can move it around or resize it.  Refreshing the desktop refreshes the sticker.  It took about one-minute, which is less than it took to type this, so searching for it is on your own ;)

[edit] D'oh!  It was the next post down...  http://www.wxforum.net/index.php?topic=8866.0 [/edit]

Yea, Weather Exchange is just about the best desktop application for PWS data.  Weatherbug would be ok, but personal stations are not available on their desktop application.

They are there but hidden in the travel weather section.  That's one beef in particular I've always had with WB.
