UK Suffering from offspring of Nadine :(
« on: September 26, 2012, 02:41:57 PM »
Hi everyone,

Late last week Tropical Storm Nadine near the Azures spawned a small depression which headed NE towards the OK. Lots of moisture and warmth, which then helped it to deepen as it stalled over the UK.

Torrential rain, more than problems with the wind, however, the effect have been quite dramatic - especially for this block of apartments (flats) in the North of England...

These were sitting on relatively flat land prior to the rain.

Hi ayde_bury,

Yes, it has been a terrible storm. It's just that no one outside the U.K. is aware of this...

WOW! Lucky!

I got 62 mm of rain in 24 hours.

There is another article on Accuweather.com that showed some dramatic pics of sea foam in Scotland that I guess was from the same storm.  There are even more dramatic pics of the foam and flooding in the Daily Mail link on that same page.

Hi Harryca,

WOW! Nice photo! It looks like it's snowed! I would actually not mind experiencing being covered in foam and everywhere to be covered in foam! It would look cool! :)

The sea foam is quite rare, and yes it was from the same storm as it tracked north.

At least now the depression has filled, and slipped back south and just left us with a few showers. Still very early in the season, so we are bound to see more wind and rain before winter sets in.

looked liked there was a blocking polar high to the north that stopped its progress and exit to the north
