Yeah, we're calmed down around here for now. Thanks.  The southern provinces are experiencing the problems now. We had several several depressions blow through that dumped on the area and caused the rivers to crest (attached is a store down the road) but all dry now. Unfortunately, the rivers flow down south and, in addition, down there the rains continue. I see news of areas under 7 feet of water. Bangkok is down at the end of this flow and they are near sea level. The plan they have is to try to divert the flow around the city. I don't know what they expect the provinces around them to do.

Did it quit raining there?  I saw some people rescued from their houses by boat today on the news.

Up here it's still lightly raining on and off with no problems. Down south is where the problems are. Yesterday on the news, a big province just north of Bangkok had to be evacuated. I heard it was for over 100,000 people! I also read that just below them in Bangkok that their efforts seem to be working with containing to river through the city. Up here in Chiang Mai things look pretty much back to normal except for some places with high water marks around them. ;)

Beautiful October weather up here. Dry too. Thanks. Bangkok has the big problems right now and the rest of the country is feeling it too. Bangkok is a major source of many goods for the whole country like bottled water, gasoline and grocery products to name some. A lot of the stocked shelves in stores around us a clearing out. People around here are grabbing up what they think they may need in the next several weeks. News of gasoline rationing has been told but that hasn't started yet. The flooding is expected to peak by this weekend to coincide with the gulf's high tide just below them. Many evacuations all around there. We have friends down there who are flying up here because they cannot get food, water, etc. The U.S. had ships with supplies docked nearby and ready to provide aid, just waiting for the word from the Thai government. That never happened for whatever reason so the ships just left. Didn't get any straight facts from the news with what happened there.

Thanks Bob! Good to go here.

Sam, let me know when/if you are coming and I'll have the ground crew clear off our west lot for your cargo plane. The other tarmacs are still undergoing cleanup efforts from the past flooding. Refueling may be a problem so you may be stranded here a while but I'm confident we'll find something to get into during your stay.:-P

I sure feel for them down there. This pic was recently taken of a province just above Bangkok.

That is a mess for real!  My thoughts and prayers are with them all.  I would never want to be in or even near a flood. No thanks!

Dan, according to the international news, you're still treading water with the worst floods in 50 years.  Are things improving significantly?

My best friend works a lot with computers and builds them, and he tried to get a piece of hardware from tigerdirect but they were out of stock. He contacted customer support and they said that the rains in Bangkok had affected their product shipping to where it couldnt be sold
