I've been there several times. I was seriously considering working there but I'm just not a big fan of winter. I figured it would be exciting the first couple of years and then I'd get tired of the winters.

At the uni where I studied we had a station in Antarctica, one of my friends actually went there, he studied geology.

They built that base several yrs ago, first Czech base in Antarctica. What is also interesting is that it is actually located on the James Ross island, which is one of the warmest parts of Antarctica (though "warmest" must be taken with caution :D Two yrs ago, the whole base was 2m below snow :D), and just a few weeks ago, the currently highest ever recorded temperature in Antarctica was measured there:
