DIY rad shield
« on: January 20, 2016, 04:55:20 PM »
I've had a go at building a rad shield from bits and bobs from screwfix.com for my netatmo. Total cost is about £12.

I used white plastic louvred vents to build a box with a triangular shaped vent for a roof.
Not sure where or how to locate it yet, but this is phase 1. Any comments welcome.

Pretty nice, well done. A couple thoughts, if that triangular vent top is open I would face that part north so the sun never gets in through it. It appears the bottom is open.? If so, you may want to consider a floor to block warm air rising off the mounting pole. Just my

Thanks Dan. Yes my intention was to face the slope Northwards.
I haven't worked out whether to use a pole or not. My options are mostly on drain pipes with Velcro, next to the bricks of the house. Not ideal I know.
I have kids so any pole in the borders of the garden will get kicked by a ball or shaken.

Top of the fence would be good but then it interfers with the neighbours a bit.

Will consider blocking up the base. Thanks.

Thanks. That means a lot.

Still considering my back garden location.

Tightened it up with some cable ties too.
