New Davis VP2
« on: April 19, 2013, 05:56:52 PM »
Looking to get a new Davis VP2 and wondering how much difference really does the 24/7 fan really make?   Also are there any rumors about any new models or say a VP3?

"Looking to get a new Davis VP2 and wondering how much difference really does the 24/7 fan really make?"  Depending on where you live, anywhere from none to right much. So, where do you live, what type of ground cover do you have, and what type of wind run do you experience?

"Also are there any rumors about any new models or say a VP3?" Only those started here as wish lists.

Here is some good information about sensor placement:

http://www.comptus.com/PDF/CWOP_Guide.pdf

Placing the sensors in a good spot might negate the need for a fars.

I'm sure there are other sites and info comparing fars and non-fars stations, but I don't have the links handy.  Then of course you have to decide if it's worth the cost, too.

Good luck!  :)

I just purchased a Davis Pro2 6153 and had the same concerns about a new model coming out as soon as I purchased it!  LOL!

Classic hobo watching a train:  every car looks better than the last, but the train is picking up speed.  Enjoy what you get.

Perfect analogy, Bushman!!!  I've definitely worn the hobo costume myself and still have the hat!   :-)
