Dashboard: NWS & WXSIM Forecast "Times" are different
« on: April 10, 2018, 04:42:13 PM »
Hi all!

On my home page..... http://www.ericboettner.com/weather/index.php

As you can see in the attached screenshot, WXSIM forecast is "ahead" - it's showing "tonight" when the NWS forecast is showing "today". And then WXSIM shows "tomorrow" while NWS shows "tonight".

I'm guessing there's an issue with how WXSIM script determines when to move forward? I know this doesn't happen all the time - probably in a few hours it will sync back up, but as of now (4:30 EST), it's mismatched.

Any thoughts on how I can fix this?  ](*,)

Thanks!
Eric

You get to determine how often WXSIM (and WXSIMATE) run on your system.  I run both at 2 hr intervals, so I don't see that mismatch.

The NWS seems to update forecasts at 6 hour intervals with the first in the morning being 'Today', then 'This Afternoon', then 'Tonight', then 'Overnight' .. the times for the change seem to happen about :15 minutes after the appointed hour (which I don't have the exact hours of change).

So.. my suggestion is to run WXSIM more often (like every 2 hours).
