Problems with WGR800 replacement wind sensor for WMR100N
« on: June 25, 2010, 07:12:19 PM »
I purchased a WGR800 wind sensor to replace an old worn out sensor for my WMR100N. The wind speed works fine, but the wind direction reads N no matter what I do. I noticed that the wind vane does not fit snugly down on the plastic rod, even after adjusting the little screw. Has anyone else had this problem, or any ideas?? Thanks.

I Just installed the same replacement wind sensor
and had the same problem.

I took it down and inside the house.
I removed the batteries in the wind sensor
and also the display unit.
I unscrewed and removed the wind direction vane.
I installed the batteries and hit the reset botton on the sensor.
Next I placed the wind sensor with the bottom
of it NOT screwed back on
onto the floor or you could use table.
Now put the direction vane on
MAKING SURE it is pointing North when it is
no longer moving...
you might have to adjust it a few times.
Once it is staying at pointing north...
make sure it is pressed firmly down
and while holding the vane and sensor in this position
tighten the screw on the direction vane to keep it secure.
Now put the batteries back in the display unit
and press the rest button on the display unit.
This should do it.

I think it is working...
Because I am getting a WNW reading...not N as before.
I don't think it is stuck in the WNW position
because intially the reading was NW...
I am waiting for the wind direction to change to really know if it working.

Let me know if this works.
GOOD LUCK
