Weather station with rugged anemometer?
« on: September 08, 2017, 01:10:28 PM »
We'd like to deploy weewx to a hilltop where windspeeds can exceed 90 mph.  Other than wind, the environment is not especially harsh, but a couple of weather stations previously installed have had their anemometers destroyed.
Can someone recommend a weather station (ideally compatible with weewx: www.weewx.com) that has a relatively rugged anemometer?   Less expensive is better, of course.

Thanks.

IIRC the Davis anemometers are rated to 200 mph.  Prolly the same for Rainwise.  FWIW, my cheap Acurite 5-1 anemometer has record speeds to about 75 mph (chinook winds).  Still spinning...
