So, I left the C batteries in my spare VP2 console. They ran down and eventually leaked. My fault...
I took it apart, and the only damage were corroded battery contacts. The PC board was fine. The contacts make connection with the board via spring fingers.
I went to the Davis site, to this page:
http://www.davisnet.com/support/weather/parts.aspScroll down under Consoles and see:
Vantage Pro/Pro2 Console Rear Assembly (#07345.599)
That link took me here:
http://www.davisnet.com/weather/products/weather_product.asp?pnum=07345.599"Replacement rear cover for Vantage Pro2 and original Vantage Pro consoles. This is the entire back side of the case, including the battery door and easel stand." Cost of $15.
Just what I want!
I called and got ahold of a tech.
"I need a Vantage Pro/Pro2 Console Rear Assembly."
We get into why I need it and what it is. He didn't think they stocked that part.
"Uh, then look up a Part # 07345.599."
"Well, Imagine that. Let me put you on hold for a minute."
He got one from stock and I described what had happened again and that I only really needed the contacts, but I didn't figure they sold them separately.
He messed around and popped them right out. Put me on hold and then came back and offered to sell me just the contacts for $5, compared to the entire back for $15.
So, today I have a set of V2 console battery contacts to put in my spare console.
And, the bag has the Davis P/Ns on it.
So, if anyone needs to order new battery contacts for his or her VP2,
7353.211 and 7353.212 are the magic numbers.
That's support!
