Thoughts on URLs and Shorteners
« on: November 13, 2012, 09:33:40 AM »
Gotta say, I don't like'em and won't click on them.  In this age of spoofs, hacks and what-not, I want to see the underlying URL.

.ly, .gl and even TinyURL are invitations for disaster since you can't see where they take you until it's too late.

The BBCode {URL=http://True URL]Link Words{/url] works just as well at reducing long URLs from being displayed, but one can hover over the keywords/link words and see the underlying URL and TLD before clicking.

This:  http://wiki.com/  and Wiki will both take you to the same place with less fear of being misdirected to an undesirable site.
