Guys,
I thought I would share that my weather webcam is now live on my site. I'm still in the early stages of webcam development, and currently only offer still images, manually refreshed.
http://castlerockweather.org/live_wxcam.phpI thought I would share my experience and configuration. My camera is a Panasonic BB-HCM531A. I'm using PowerOverEthernet (POE) which is really nice. 1 Cat6 cable and I've got video and power. Its mounted outside 10' off the ground, on the south side of my home.
To capture the image I'm using an image overlay PHP script from Mike of Long Beach, WA.
http://www.carmosaic.com/weather/scripts.phpTo execute his script my weather server runs 'wget.exe for windows'. This command line utility downloads the php script. The downloading forces the webserver to process the PHP script, in-turn creating my wxcam.jpg file. I was forced to think a little outside the box, because my ISP limits me to 2 cron jobs per hour. I needed a cron job every 30s to 1 min.
We love the new camera, and enjoy watching the sunrise from work.
