Weather Envoy
« on: May 13, 2008, 10:44:38 PM »
Recently bought the Vantage Pro 2 and would like to post the data on the internet.  I am looking at getting the Wireless Envoy so I can connect it to my server.  Can I use the serial version of Weatherlink with the Envoy?  I just want to make sure I am getting this right before I buy.  Thanks!

My station doesn't have a console but uses an Envoy which has a datalogger that was switched from USB to serial and works just great. One thing I don't have is a way to monitor signal strength if there is a comm problem.

If you keep your computer on 27/7, that would certainly work.  If you're like me and don't want your computer on all the time (power consumption, increased vulnerability to cyber thieves, premature hardware failure), you'll look into WeatherlinkIP or one of the alternatives Tinplate and Sloweather are developing.  Search for the Weatherlink IP thread for the numerous discussions on this topic.

If you keep your computer on 27/7...

No wonder you need to watch power consumption, you are obviously crossing time/space continuum boundaries by running it 3 more hours than we have in a normal earthly day...

lol, oops.  The extra three hours a day is for all the stuff I was supposed to get done, but didn't!

Yeah but with "Honey Doos" there are only 20 hours in a day.
