Thanks Guys. Living on the edge of a very small town in rural Ireland does have its advantages. I have since built a fence behind the weather station, that photo is from December 2008. I will upload a new photo in the coming week once all the work has been completed.

Curious as to why you mounted the anemometer seperate from the rest of the station?

Thanks,

LOL! An anometer would look sweet on top of the spire all right!!!

I have the anometer at 2m height and the rest of the ISS at 48in. In the coming weeks I intend to raise the anometer to 10m if the neighbours don't mind.

Here is my lightning detector...

We used 3/4" inch galvanised steel bar, fixed 3ft length of 1 and 1/2"
white PVC piping, and the black outer housing is 4" duct pipe with a sealed top.
The Boltek is attached to the white PVC, the duct pipe provides shelter.
The lead just about reaches the PC in the shed... phew!!!  :-[

Danno, just a thougt but why don't mount the anemometer on the same mast as the ligthning detector? If there are clear view from there it should be a great place for it.
Just a thougt, as you now just have it only in 2m heigt.

Hi TorH, I was thinking of that, but then I thought the pitch of the roof would cause incorrect readings and gusts.
